Exhibition: “The Fashion World of Jean Paul Gaultier: From the Sidewalk to the Catwalk”

Fundación Mapfre presents ”The Fashion World of Jean Paul Gaultier: From the Sidewalk to the Catwalk”, revealing the avant-garde designer’s view of Spanish culture. Gaultier has been passionate about this country from his early years. His love for Spain has been expressed in some of the designs such as his daring bolero jackets, Sevilian shawls and drama fans. The museum will display 50 sketches and audiovisuals, along with legendary looks such as Madonna’s corsets from the 1990 Blond Ambition World Tour. Moreover, the spanish director Pedro Almodóvar features costumes and original sketches Jean Paul Gaultier designed for his films such as, “Bad Education,” “Kika,”and “The Skin I Live In.” To make the show even more interesting, the designer’s creations are shown on more than 30 mannequins with interactive faces with headdresses and wigs designed by Atelier 68 founder Odile Gilbert.
