Exhibition: “Proust’s Muse, The Countess Greffulhe”

The exhibition ‘Proust’s Muse, The Countess Greffulhe’ is on show at the Museum at FIT, New York, from the 23rd September 2016 to the 7th January 2017.
The one who inspired the character of Oriane, Duchess of Guemantes, in Marcel Proust’s novel ‘In Search of Lost Time’, the Countess Greffulhe is the protagonist of this exhibition that brings together over 40 fashion objects belonged to her. Based on the exhibition ‘La Mode retrouvée: Les robes trésors de la comtesse Greffulhe’ curated by Olivier Saillard and on show at Palais Galliera, the repository of the countess’ wardrobe, ‘Proust’s Muse, The Countess Greffulhe’ features some of her most representative looks, including the famous ‘Lily Dress’ created by Worth and worn by the Countess in her photo potrait taken by Nadar in 1896, also on show.
