“History of threads” at the Calais International City of Lace and Fashion examines lace, textiles and transparency from various points of view outside of the clothing industry. The exhibition shows the transposition of lace in new materials and allowing free interpretation to contrasting spaces and solids, which proves lace an undeniable source of inspiration in creation nowadays. The exposition displays various approaches to the material, also giving an insight into manufacturing processes and tools of bobbin and machine lace.
