Exhibition: “Catwalk”

SHOOT3

For the first time, Rijksmuseum displays its fashion collection in an exhibition which brings together the history of Dutch fashion. Opening the 20th of February, the exhibition designed by the world-renowned photographer Erwin Olaf will be set in six galleries of the Philips Wing of the Rijksmuseum. Dedicated to Dutch fashion from 1925 to 1960, “Catwalk” sets the occasion for the Museum to show some of the amazing pieces from its 10.000 items collection. These pieces include the widest dress in the Netherlands, a fragile dress of blonde silk bobbin lace from the 19th century and a silk taffeta cocktail gown by Cristóbal Balenciaga. In addition, the Dutch costumes owned by the History Department of the Museum and worn in the seventeenth century will be exhibited too.

The exhibition will be on show through the 16th of May 2016. For more information, please visit the Rijksmuseum.
